Several years ago, my sisters, my mom and I were gathered around the table at my parents' house. My sisters were talking about their goals, plans, and dreams: traveling the world, exploring far-flung places, performing in Disney parades in full princess regalia, and dazzling on the stages of Broadway (I have an immensely talented family). I stayed quiet, but I began thinking about my dreams: of the books I would write, the beautiful experiences I wanted to design to connect and inspire women, the art I would make and the changes I wanted to see in the world. Out loud, I said, "It's tough to have the courage to follow your dreams. I think I'm only now taking those first steps."
My mom turned to me, puzzled, and in pure, innocent confusion, replied, "What do mean? You don't have any dreams."
She meant nothing by it, but the words cut like a knife. I felt found out, like I had tentatively outed myself as wanting to do something big and meaningful only to be met with an eyeroll and a "that's not who you're supposed to be" attitude. Which was not at all what my mom meant, but her genuine confusion shed major light on the fact that I wasn't "out" about my dreams, and I certainly wasn't owning them...because the truth was that I was fuzzy and unclear about what they were in the first place.
I look back on that earlier version of me, and my heart absolutely aches for the sheer confusion she endured on a daily basis, going to work and walking around in a haze, knowing deep down that something big was missing. I didn't want to admit it at the time, but I was not being a good steward of my gifts. I was squandering my talents and hiding my light. I knew deep down I could do work in a bigger, better, more intentional, more freeing and fulfilling way, but I had no clue where to start.
I felt called to more, but I had exactly zero idea of what that "more" looked like.
If you've ever been restless in your business or your job, but you don't know what "more" looks like, I made something for you that serves as a juicy-yet-practical container to finally figure it the eff out.
Welcome to The Calling Connection
What It Is
The Calling Connection is short mini-course that solves your calling quandaries once and for all. Over the course of 5 short video trainings and the accompanying workbook, you'll have an easy and fun practice for connecting the dots and naming your calling so you can finally feel confident enough to pursue it. You can read all the details by clicking here.
It's a process that uses your inner wisdom as a lens to help you clearly see what’s already in your soul and use that magic to bring your calling to life. It will help you connect the dots, make decisions easier, and help you see new opportunities.
Who It's For
The Calling Connection is a perfect fit if you:
- are a creative, passionate woman who secretly suspects you have a calling to use your creativity and passions for good, but you're not sure what that calling is or how to discover it
- have an idea of what your calling could be, but you’re scared to get it wrong or trust your gut
- deeply desire more from your life and work, but you just feel really, really stuck
- feel "meh" about your job or business and want to refocus your fire and rekindle your passions
- long to deepen your mission and serve in more powerful ways
- are at a crossroads and want to make your next steps deeply intentional and purposeful
Why I Made It In The First Place
I've probably coached hundreds of people on their careers and businesses by this point, and the only 2 differences I consistently see between the people who "make it" and people who don't are this:
- People who make it have a crystal clear vision of what they are trying to achieve, and
- They keep going even when it's not easy.
I knew I wanted to make something that helped people understand what their calling really was so that they could spring into action and start enjoying the meaningful life they were born for, and I've found that the reason that most meaningful job searches and business plans fail is that they don't have a clear vision of what they are attempting to make. The Calling Connection takes you through a short, simple process of narrowing down the vision to one overarching direction that essentially guides all your action steps. I don't want you to get bogged down in "what's my calling/passion/purpose?" when it's actually really simple to uncover.
Also, real talk time. There's a lot of bad stuff happening in the world, and the world needs more people mobilized, inspired, and on the side of good. If you have gifts and talents to share with the planet (which you do), then it's time to lady up and use them. Not just because the world needs you to show up in your full glory (which it does), but also because you only have one life to live, and you deserve to live it full out.
When I started building my business, I became obsessed with the concept of "7 Generations Work." You'll have to pardon the oversimplification, but it's a Native American idea that when we make choices as a tribe (or culture), we should do so with the next 7 generations in mind, meaning like...don't pollute the Earth and spoil things for future generations and stuff like that. To me, this concept can be used to connect us to our daughters and our daughters' daughters and so on and so forth. When I get burned out in my work or feel really stuck, I remind myself that everything I do has the potential to positively or negatively affect the people who come after me. Even if it's as small as challenging my self-doubt, I'm doing it for my metaphorical daughters. The point is that now is too crucial a time to not contribute to a sense of goodness and freedom in the world, and that starts with you: your clarity, your confidence, your freedom, your fulfillment.
